The soil on the island is perfect for vines, and a number of local wines have won international awards. Hippocrates, a native of Kos and the father of Western medicine, often expounded the health benefits of responsible drinking.
Visit the Triantafyllopoulos Vineyards in Miniera near Asfendiou village for a tour and a taste of the highly-prized Malagouzia-Sauvignon Blanc. The winery is open every day Monday to Saturday until 15:30.
